Chilean Fjord & Tierra del Fuego Cruises

The Skorpios ships depart from Puerto Montt and sail as far south as Laguna San Rafael. During the cruise you will see and experience the ocean, mountains, icebergs and fjords. The Skorpios ships were constructed for tourism and are specially designed for navigating coastal waters. The voyage culminates at the breathtaking Laguna San Rafael with its immense ice spires. Sail amongst incredible icebergs of wild shapes and iridescent colors. The Quitralco Fjord is another attraction; where you can enjoy the Skorpios’ open air thermal pools and a typical Chilean barbecue. Both ships provide the same cruise itinerary, however, the Skorpios III is the newest vessel of the fleet, and provides superior shipboard amenities.

The Skorpios II & III - 7 Days

Day 1, Saturday - Cruise Begins - Set sail from Chinquihue, Puerto Montt, sailing via the Llanquihue Archipelago and the Gulf of Ancud.

Day 2, Sunday - Tempanos & San Rafael - Navigating through the Moraleda Channels, arrive at Puerto Aguirre, a remote fishing village, to continue sailing through the Guaitecas Archipelago, tile Ferronave and Pilcomayo channels; the Costa Channel and the Elefantes Fjord. Drop anchor 20 miles from the San Rafael Glacier.

Day 3, Monday - Moraleda & Elefantes - Cruising through the Tempanos River, arrive at a distance of 2,000 meters away from the large mass of ice. Here, passengers can enjoy excursions in motorboats between multicolored icebergs.

Day 4, Tuesday - Quitralco - The adventure continues! Today, the ship makes a landing at the Quitralco Fjord, where the Skorpios group has both outdoor and indoor thermal Pools.

Day 5, Wednesday - Chiloe & Queilen - Sailing through the Leucayec Channel, on the way to Chiloe, passengers can see the Island of Melinka, in the Los Chonos Archipelago. Then cross the Corcovado Gulf to hug the eastern coast of Chiloe. Here, the Skorpios makes a landing at Queilen (visit optional).

Day 6, Thursday - Chinquihue - Castro, a city founded in 1567. Points worth visiting here are the cathedral and the native handicraft market. Tonight, enjoy a gala farewell dinner, hosted by the Captain.

Day 7, Friday - Puerto Montt - Disembark after breakfast.

 

The Skorpios I - 4 Days

Day 1, Friday - Cruise Begins - Arrive by air at Balmaceda, where you will be met and transferred to Coyhaique. Continue to Puerto Chacabuco and board the Skorpios I. Cruise towards the San Rafael Lagoon and sail for the Aysen Inlet, Turtle Point, Elena Island, Costa Channel and Elefants Estuary, docking at Leopards Point for the night.

Day 2, Saturday - San Rafael Lagoon & Quitralco Fjord - Enter San Rafael by the Tempanos River, dropping anchor one and one half miles from the glacier. Take excursions in motor boats between the multicolored icebergs. In the afternoon the ship draws close to the glacier, and then sails on to tile Quitralco Fjord.

Day 3, Sunday - To Puerto Chacabuco - While the ship is anchored at Quitralco Harbor, take thermal baths in the covered pools or take an excursion in small motorboats to the interior of the fjord. In the evening, sail to Puerto Chacabuco.

Day 4, Monday - Puerto Chacabuco - Disembark after breakfast.

   

 

The Skorpios I - 5 Days

Day 1, Monday - Cruise Begins - Arrive by air at Balmaceda, where you will be met and transferred to Coyhaique. Continue to Puerto Chacabuco and board the Skorpios I. Day 2, Tuesday - San Rafael Lagoon - Enter the San Rafael by the Iceberg River. Take excursions in motor boats between the multi-colored icebergs. In the afternoon the ship draws close to the glacier and then sails to the Quitralco Fjord.

Day 3, Wednesday - Quitralco Fjord - While anchored at the Quitralco Harbor, take tilermal baths in the covered pools or take an excursion in small motorboats to the interior of the fjord.

Day 4, Thursday - To Puerto Chacabuco - During an additional day in Quitralco, take an excursion into the forest and on to the lookout point. After a "sport fishing tour", sail to Puerto Chacabuco.

Day 5, Friday - Puerto Chacabuco - Disembark after breakfast.

 

Cruising Patagonia & Tierra Del Fuego On The Mare Australis

Cruise to the Bottom of the World on the Mare Australis - 8 Days

Day 1, Saturday - Cruise Begins - This evening, board the Mare Terra Australis. The crew and the captain will welcome you to a cocktail reception. Sail towards the end of the world, through the mythical Strait of Magellan, to Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego (Fireland).

Day 2, Sunday - Marinelli Glacier, Brookes Bay & Tuckers Isle - At dawn, cruise through Almirantazgo Bay to the Marinelli Glacier. Disembark in zodiacs and take a walk to see the Magellan forests and a sea lion colony. During the afternoon, disembark first at Brookes Glacier and later at Tucker Isle to visit a small colony of Magellan Penguins.

Day 3, Monday - Agostini Fjord & Serrano Glacier - Disembark in Agostini Bay close to the Serrano Glacier. An excursion by zodiac will allow you to enjoy a close up view of the glacier. Disembark and take a walk to the observation point and witness enormous chunks of ice falling off the glacier.

Day 4, Tuesday - Beagle Channel, Yendegaia & Port Williams - Enter the Beagle Channel to see the majestic "Glaciers Avenue". Disembark at Yendegaia Bay and see the first Chilean farm of Tierra del Fuego. In the afternoon, stop at Port Williams, the southernmost city in the world.

Day 5, Wednesday - Ushuaia - Enjoy optional tours such as to the Tierra del Fuego National Park or lakes Escondido and Fagnano.

Day 6, Thursday - Pia & Garibaldi Glaciers - Sail to Pia Glacier. Enter Garibaldi Bay and view the glacier by the same name. Disembark in zodiacs at one of the idyllic beaches along this area of primitive beauty.

Day 7, Friday - Fitton Bay & Tuckers Isle - Disembark at Fitton Bay and take a short walk through the Magellan Forest to the lagoon into which Fitton Glacier descends. There is also the chance to observe a huge colony of cormorants that live here. In the afternoon, again disembark at Tucker Isle to visit the charming Magellan Penguins.

Day 8, Saturday - Magdalena Island to Punta Arenas - Early this morning, disembark at Magdalena Island, home of an enormous penguin colony (over 120,000) in different stages of breeding and raising their young. Continue back to Punta Arenas for disembarkation.
