Northern Chile

The Northern desert and a mummy found there.

The Chilean north with its remote "Altiplano" (high plateau) sits next to the borders of Peru and Bolivia. As one travels through this land of snow-capped volcanoes and bizarre desert where it never rains, see strange sculpted rock formations and endless salt lakebeds. The crystallized salts look like snow on the vast desert floor. There is more than just the scenery to see here. There are cultures to meet; ancient ruins preserved in open-air museums and critters the likes of which you will rarely see.
