Half Day Excursions
City Tour of Santiago
Sightseeing of the city begins with the main square (Plaza de Armas) for a stroll to view some of Santiagos main points of interest, such as "La Moneda" (the government palace) and the love cathedral. Continue with a drive to the "old city" and the Bohemian neighborhood. Motor up San Cristobal Hill for a panoramic view of Santiago and the Andes Mountains. The tour ends at the artisans village of Los Graneros de Alba, where there will be time for shopping.
Hacienda Los Lingues
Drive south on the Pan American Highway past Rancagua, Pelequen and three miles on the original 18th-century road, to the 400-year-old hacienda "Los Lingues", at the foot of the Andes, covering 1,000 acres of fertile land and 8,000 acres of rolling hills. Upon arrival, the owner greets you with a welcome drink in the lush, exotic garden. Its English, French and native components are a botanists delight. Then visit the main house, richly furnished with period antiques; the chapel, housing a wealth of museum pieces and awards won by the ranch for its horse breeding, and the stables. After a savory lunch served with estate-bottled wine and homemade bread, enjoy a horse show with time for horseback riding or other activities.
